Vaginismus is defined as pain and penetration disorder, and it is a condition that occurs as a defense mechanism during sexual intercourse, with closing the legs, contractions, crying, shouting and a panic attack-like situation.<\/p>

It can be seen in 10% of newlywed couples. The problem may be due to psychological or anatomical disorders. Couples may attribute their failure in their first sexual intercourse attempts to fatigue, excitement or stress, but it may take time for them to face failure in repeated attempts.<\/p>

Since vaginismus is a disease that progresses with delay and avoidance, the time it takes for the patient to see a doctor varies.<\/p>

Since sexuality is a private matter between two people, patients may be quite late in seeking a solution on the subject. It is also difficult for couples to share this problem with their family and friends.<\/p>

Repeated unsuccessful attempts can cause wear and tear in the first years of marriage, decrease in communication, and decrease in love and respect. Most of our patients who apply to our clinic with sexual dysfunction have vaginismus.<\/p>

Vaginismus is a disease that can be seen in everyone, from every profession, every age group, anywhere in the world, regardless of education status, income level, religion and intellectual level.<\/p>

If there are anatomical problems, the couple is first evaluated with a gynecology and obstetrics examination, and then the cause of vaginismus is investigated.<\/p>

Unfortunately, the main cause of vaginismus in our country is sexual myths. Since everyone shares their own positive or negative first sexual experience, the person may perceive the information they hear in social environments or digital environments as normal sexuality, and pathological sexuality may not be excluded because the patient is inexperienced. For this reason, everyone’s first sexual experience should please remain to themselves.<\/p>

After the necessary examinations and tests for the cause of vaginismus and the history are questioned, the problems should be detected and the treatment process should begin, and the appropriate treatment method for the couple should be selected.<\/p>

Sometimes the couple is given a single method, sometimes it is converted to additional treatments.<\/p>
